What it does
A change that moves things around and adds a feature at the same time is hard to review and hard to undo. If something breaks, you cannot tell which kind of edit did it. Reviewers see a large mess, and they either approve it blind or send it back. This skill labels every edit as structure, which changes how things are arranged, or behaviour, which changes what they do. It checks how easy each edit is to undo, groups structure edits into small steps that leave behaviour alone and puts behaviour edits in their own steps. It then says which tidy-ups make the new behaviour easier, which can wait, and when to run tests between steps.
You give it
- The change, as a diff, a list of edits or a plan
- The goal of the change, in a sentence
- The tests or checks you have today (optional)
- A draft (optional)
You get
- Every edit labelled as structure or behaviour, with how easy it is to undo
- A set of small tidy-up steps and a set of behaviour steps
- Which tidy-ups help the behaviour change, and which are optional
- The order, with when to run tests
Use it when
- You have a large diff or edit list and no one wants to review it.
- You want to tidy something up and add a feature in the same piece of work.
- An AI helper made many changes at once and you need to take them in safely.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste the change as it is, with the plan from the step before if you have one.
- Say what the change is meant to achieve in one sentence.
- Do the steps in the order given and run the tests it names after each one.
- Send each step for review on its own.
