What it does
Most changes start with code or edits and discover the edge cases later, by breaking things. A list of cases made first shows you the shape of the work before you have spent anything on it, and it gives you a clear next step each time you sit down. This skill states the change in one line, then lists the cases the change must handle, including the edge cases and the old behaviour that must keep working. It keeps how-to-build choices off the list, because the list is about what should happen. It orders the cases so the smallest, most teaching one comes first and marks which one to turn into a real test now. As new cases appear, you add them. As cases pass, you cross them off.
You give it
- The change you want to make, in your own words
- What it does today, and any code or notes (optional)
- Cases you already know about, such as past bugs (optional)
You get
- The change in one line
- A list of cases, each describing behaviour and not how to build it
- The order to work through them, smallest first
- The one case to turn into a real test now
Use it when
- You are about to change something that works and you are afraid of breaking it.
- A task feels huge and you do not know where to start.
- You are about to ask an AI to write code and want to tell it exactly what must be true.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Describe the change in a few sentences and say what it does today.
- Add any known odd cases, such as old bugs or special customers.
- Take the first case on the list and turn it into a real test or check.
- Come back to add new cases and cross off the ones that pass.
