Get a stuck learner moving again

Give it the learner's work. Get a diagnosis, one-step hints, a task ladder and a study plan.

Get a stuck learner moving again is a free AI workflow for the job "Teach and train people". It guides your AI through several skills in order, passing each step's output to the next.

What it does

When a learner is stuck, the usual fix is to explain again, louder. It rarely works, because the stuck point is seldom where it looks. A student who cannot do the hard problem is often missing one small earlier step, and every full explanation skips it again. This workflow finds the step. It reads the learner's work and diagnoses where their thinking actually breaks, with the evidence from their own attempts. It writes hints that give one step at a time, so the learner does the work and the hint never gives the answer. It builds a ladder of tasks that starts where the learner can succeed and climbs back to the hard problem. Then it plans short study sessions with a review at the end of each, so the gain holds.

Steps

  1. Stuck-point diagnosis coach: When you are stuck or wrong, work out why first. Then get help aimed at the real gap.
  2. Step-by-step hint writer: Give it a problem type. Get hints that reveal help bit by bit without giving away the answer.
  3. Confidence-building task ladder: Give it a skill students avoid. Get a ladder of small wins that builds confidence. Not medical advice.
  4. Study session planner and review: Set goals at the start, check your method halfway, and note what changed at the end of a study session.

How to use it

  1. Download the handoff pack. It's a zip with HANDOFF.md and every skill file this workflow uses.
  2. Give the folder to Claude (in Claude Code, or as files in a Claude Project) and say "Follow HANDOFF.md".
  3. Paste the learner's attempts and the task. It diagnoses the sticking point.
  4. Use the hints one at a time in your next session. Stop as soon as the learner moves.
  5. Give them the task ladder and the study plan. Check the reviews each week.
