What it does
Many businesses lead with a sales pitch. Most of the people who see it are not ready to buy, so they do nothing, and the business never learns who they are. The few who do reply get a slow, vague answer, and the ones who stopped halfway hear nothing at all. The steps fix both ends. First it names who has the costly problem and what it costs them, picks one piece of information they would ask for, and makes that the offer, with a clear step for replying and a plan to route each reply to a named person. Then it writes follow-up emails for people who came close and stopped, with a new reason in each message and a point to stop. The ideas come from The 10 Rules of Direct Response Marketing by Dan Kennedy.
You give it
- Your product or service, what it costs and what it does
- Who has the costly problem and what it costs them
- Who will handle replies and how often they can follow up (optional)
- Your offer terms and any real deadline
- What the leads who stopped did, and how far they got
- Reviews, replies or questions that show their doubts, word for word (optional)
- Customer words (optional)
You get
- One information offer, named in the buyer's terms, and a short ad or letter that offers it
- A plan to record each reply, route it to a named person and count replies and sales by source
- A series of follow-up emails for stalled leads, each with a subject line, a next step and a new reason
- A send schedule, a stop rule and a plan for people who still do not respond
Use it when
- You want leads to raise their hand before you sell to them.
- People ask for your price or quote, then go quiet, and you have no plan for what comes next.
- Your ads or letters pitch straight away and bring in few replies.
Steps
- Educational lead magnet planner: Paste your product and who has the costly problem. Get a useful-information offer, a reply step and a plan to route replies.
- Sales follow-up writer: Paste your offer and where leads stopped. Get a follow-up email series with a new reason each time.
How to use it
- Download the handoff pack. It's a zip with HANDOFF.md and every skill file this workflow uses.
- Give the folder to Claude (in Claude Code, or as files in a Claude Project) and say "Follow HANDOFF.md".
- Describe your product and who has the costly problem. It builds the information offer and the reply plan.
- Say how far the stalled leads got, and add any doubts they gave in their own words. It writes the follow-up series.
- Check that your email tool follows the rules in your area on consent and unsubscribes before you send.
