What it does
When a bug is not fixed, the usual reason is a guess. A change goes in, the error moves, and an hour later the real cause is still there. AI tools do this fast, which makes it worse. This prompt slows the first step on purpose. You get ranked suspects and a quick check for each, so the cause is shown by evidence. You send back what the checks showed, and the fix comes after.
You give it
- What you expected and what happened, with the exact error
- How to trigger it
- The code near the problem
- What changed recently (optional)
You get
- The bug restated in two lines
- Three ranked suspects with evidence
- One small check per suspect
- What is still unknown and what to send next
Use it when
- Your AI keeps proposing fixes that do not work.
- The bug only happens sometimes.
- It broke after a change and you do not know which part.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt, then paste it into your AI chat (Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini).
- Under it, paste your details, one item for each line in What you need.
- Send it and read the reply against the checks at the end of the prompt.
- Answer anything marked MISSING and send it again, or ask for one part to be redone.
