What it does
Brands with a strong voice often end up with copy nobody can follow. A line like "Stairs? Not today, knees." sounds fun in a meeting, but a stranger has to stop and decode it, and most won't. Research backs the instinct: needlessly fancy wording makes readers think less of the writer, and headlines that only make sense after the body copy lose the people who read just the headline. This card fixes the order of priority. Rule 1, natural: a complete sentence a person would say, in everyday words. Rule 2, it sells: it shows the reader getting somewhere better, with the product as the way. Rule 3, it tells a story: someone does something and something happens. Rule 4, the brand's language. Rule 5, the brand's style tricks, last and optional. A later rule never rescues a line that fails an earlier one. When writing, your AI follows the…
You give it
- What to write, or the draft to check
- Your voice notes and the lines your brand already uses (optional)
- Brand brain (optional)
You get
- If writing, the copy, following the five rules in order
- If checking, each line that breaks a rule, the rule number, and a corrected full line
- If checking, the lines it left alone, so you can see what passed
- A score out of 100, the share of lines that pass every rule, before and after the fixes
Use it when
- Your brand voice is playful or punchy, and your ads have started to make less sense.
- You want a short rule card to paste above every copy request to an AI tool.
- You're checking a draft and want a simple test for which clever lines to cut.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- To write, add your request underneath, for example "write three Instagram captions about our new flavour".
- To check, paste your draft and write "check this".
- Paste your voice notes and a few of your brand's own lines, if you have them.
- Keep the card at the top of any long chat, so later requests follow it too.
