What it does
Many products have a built-in handicap. A strong smell. A high price. A setup that looks hard. An audience that seems too small. Buyers react to it before they read your pitch, so a better pitch does not help. This skill names the handicap in the buyer's own words, sorts it into one of four kinds and tests the fix that matches. A turn-off can sometimes be shown as evidence of a strength. A complex product can be cut down to the one thing the buyer does and gets. A narrow product can be tied to a bigger concern the buyer already has. A dear product can be compared in a fair way, with the sum shown. Each fix has to pass a truth test. If none does, the skill says so and suggests leading with another strength.
You give it
- A brief with the buyer, the want and what rivals say
- Product facts: price, what it does, how it is used, what buyers dislike
- Any good thing that comes with the trait (optional, but it makes the best fix possible)
You get
- The handicap in the buyer's words and which of four kinds it is
- A test result for each fix tried, pass or fail
- A one-line new definition and a 60 to 120 word passage that carries it
- A passage on a rival the buyer is loyal to, if one applies
- A truth test result
Use it when
- Buyers back away from something about your product before they read the benefits.
- You sell something dearer than the alternatives and cannot lower the price.
- Your product is hard to explain or seems made for too few people.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste your brief and product facts. Add what buyers say about the trait, word for word.
- Read the test results. If no fix passes, take the suggestion to lead with a different strength.
- Show the passage to someone who has not heard of you. Ask whether they would feel misled when the product arrived.
