Hire an AI comparable annual revenue modeler
Build a recent-year sales total. Adjust for currency, business changes and extra weeks to compare like with like.
What you give
- Revenue from acquired and disposed businesses, with completion dates (from the deal notes)
- The fiscal calendar: period end dates and which year had the extra week
What you get
- Revenue with the extra week taken out
- Missing facts, and checks that could not run
An example
A company reports a full year and part of the next, and you need the last 12 months.
You ask: “Build a recent-year sales total. Use the material I attach and ask for anything essential that is missing.”
You get back:
- 1 TRAILING REVENUE. Annual plus current year-to-date less prior year-to-date, with each fiscal boundary shown.
- 2 CONSTANT CURRENCY. Revenue by currency at one named rate convention, and the signed currency effect.
- 3 ORGANIC PERIMETER. Acquired and disposed revenue taken out, and organic growth on one continuing perimeter.
An example, not your task.

Details
Everything it can hand back
Your task sets the actual outputs. The specialist picks the methods that cover them.
- Reported trailing 12-month revenue, built from annual plus current year-to-date less prior year-to-date
- Constant-currency revenue and a signed currency effect
- Organic growth on one comparable business perimeter
- Revenue with the extra week taken out
- A walk from reported to comparable revenue, one adjustment per line
- Missing facts, and checks that could not run
How it does the job well
- Reconcile to source documents, such as bank statements, ledgers and invoices, before reporting.
- Show the calculation, inputs and period for every figure.
- Label actuals, estimates and forecasts clearly.
- Send tax, legal and regulatory questions to a qualified professional.
Mistakes it avoids
- Mixing cash and accrual figures, or different periods, in one comparison.
- Rounding or formula errors that do not tie back to totals.
- Giving personal investment advice.
What a good result looks like
An example, not your task: A company reports a full year and part of the next, and you need the last 12 months.
- 4 EXTRA WEEK. The extra week's revenue, marked actual or estimate, and comparable revenue without it.
- WALK. Reported revenue to comparable revenue, one adjustment per line, ending on a tie.
- SOURCES, MISSING and CHECKS MISSED. Where each figure came from, each gap and the line it stops, and checks that could not run.
How the work is checked
- Every adjustment is applied once and in order: currency, then deals, then the extra week. Comparable revenue reconciles to reported trailing revenue by adjustment, and the same perimeter sits in the numerator and denominator.
- Trace each material input to its source, date, currency, scale, sign and reporting period. Retain unresolved MISSING: lines.
- Keep hardcoded inputs separate from live formulas. Inspect changed inputs, actual recalculation, exported formulas and saved-file reopening.
- Distinguish a real zero, unavailable evidence and an inapplicable ratio. Never force a financial statement tie with an unexplained plug.
- States which checks passed, failed or could not run, and names missing inputs.
These checks have not been run against a model yet. Your AI uses them to check its own work.
A second opinion
Before it hands back, your AI reviews the draft the way Charlie Munger would. This is a way of reviewing the work. It does not mean they wrote or endorse it.
Capabilities
- Trailing-period financial bridge. Builds reported trailing revenue as annual plus current year-to-date less matching prior year-to-date. Keeps every fiscal boundary and restatement. Hands step 2 the revenue split by period and currency.
- Constant-currency revenue bridge. Uses the same period and currency buckets with one named exchange-rate convention. Rebuilds comparable-currency revenue and shows the currency effect with its sign.
- Organic revenue perimeter bridge. Takes out acquired and disposed revenue using completion dates, so the numerator and denominator cover the same continuing businesses. Does not remove the currency effect a second time.
- Extra-week revenue comparability. Removes the extra week's revenue using calendar evidence, then walks final comparable revenue back to reported trailing revenue by adjustment.

Inputs and helpful context
The specialist starts from the task brief. Only active methods require their inputs.
For the primary method, when used
- Annual revenue and year-to-date revenue by business and currency (from the annual and interim reports)
- The matching prior-year year-to-date figures, restated if the company restated them
- Average exchange rates for each period and the convention you want, if more than one currency (from your rate source)
- Revenue from acquired and disposed businesses, with completion dates (from the deal notes)
- The fiscal calendar: period end dates and which year had the extra week
- The reporting currency and scale
Helpful context (optional)
- Prior-year comparatives exactly as the latest report states them.
- A named exchange-rate source and convention.
- A named reviewer who knows the business.
Tools and access
- A spreadsheet engine and file-capable AI: Builds a workbook with inputs, formulas and checks you can click into. In plain chat it returns the same tables as text and says no workbook was made.
- The company's filings and deal notes: They give restated figures and completion dates. A data-site summary often leaves both out.
- A spreadsheet engine and file-capable AI: Create, recalculate, render and reopen the requested native workbook.
- Node.js 20 or later: Run the bundled dependency-free reference calculation against explicit numeric inputs.
- Node.js 20 or later: Run the bundled dependency-free reference calculation against explicit numeric inputs. Without it, the AI does the sums in chat.

Tasks you can use it for
- A company reports a full year and part of the next, and you need the last 12 months.
- Reported growth looks strong, but the company bought a business or a currency moved.
- This year had 53 weeks and last year had 52.
- Revenue sits in several currencies and you need growth without exchange rates.
Limits to check before starting
- You have one currency, no deals and no extra week. A simple trailing sum is enough. Use the Trailing year financial calculator.
- You need to explain gross-to-net deductions and business scope for a presentation. Use the Comparable revenue growth checker workflow.
- You only need the currency effect. Use the Revenue growth currency checker.
- You only need to take out an extra week. Use the Extra week sales growth checker.
Best way to use this role
Give it one clear outcome, the actual files and a definition of done. Keep the work in one AI project so it can reuse checked context and earlier files.
- Download the workflow pack and give it to an AI that can read files, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini. Use one that can make spreadsheets if you want a workbook.
- Attach the annual report, the interim reports and the deal notes. Paste the exchange-rate convention you want. Say which year had the extra week.
- After step 1, check that each fiscal boundary and restatement is shown, and that the figure is called trailing revenue, not annual revenue.
- After steps 2 and 3, check that one rate convention is named and that the currency effect is not taken out twice.
- After step 4, check that comparable revenue walks back to reported revenue, one line per adjustment. Fill every MISSING line first.
