What it does
After weeks of digging it is easy to hold ten findings in your head and still not know where you stand. A strong return can hide a doubtful manager. A famous name can hide the fact that you never worked out its cash. This skill puts it all on one page. Each of ten tests gets a pass, fail or unknown with its evidence, and a gap is never counted as a pass. Three tests are must-pass: that you understand the business, that its edge lasts and that you can estimate its cash. A short ladder then gives the verdict. It also pulls out red flags and orders what to read or ask next. The verdict is about the business, not the price, and it gives no buy or sell calls.
