What it does
If a promo link carries no tag, Shopify's marketing area cannot tell which post, ad or email sent the shopper. Then a Black Friday campaign shows up as "direct" traffic, and you cannot say which channel earned the sale. This skill names the campaign once and tags every link to match. Each platform gets its own source tag, and the same campaign tag goes on all of them. It then writes the match rules Shopify needs to group those visits, plans separate links for influencers, and picks an attribution model that fits the question you are asking. It does not replace server-side tracking, and Shopify only sees tagged traffic, so its numbers can differ from each platform's own reports.
You give it
- Campaign name and dates
- The channels (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, email, influencers)
- The page each link goes to
- Existing traffic you want counted, such as a Shopify email or an ad (optional)
- Plan (optional)
You get
- Naming rules and a link sheet with tags for each channel
- The auto-match rules to enter in Shopify's marketing area
- The attribution model to start with, and why
- A weekly review routine
Use it when
- You are launching a sale or campaign on more than one channel and want to see which one sold.
- You send links to influencers or event partners and want each one tracked.
- Your marketing reports show most sales as direct traffic.
How to use it
