What it does
Most money is lost in games where someone across the table knows more than you do. The cure is to know where your own knowledge ends, and to stay inside it. That sounds easy. It is hard because everything you half-understand feels familiar. This skill makes you prove it. You answer five questions about how the thing earns, what it costs, why customers might leave and how a rival could hurt it. Each answer is marked as a fact, a guess or a blank. It then asks what you see better than the next person, finds the first question you cannot answer, and sorts the thing into one of three baskets. It never says to buy or sell any named security.
You give it
- The business, bet or field and what it sells
- Your background in it, such as years worked or things you use daily (optional)
- A report on its edge or risks (optional)
You get
- Five answers marked as known, guessed or blank
- Your real edge written down, or "no edge"
- A sort into yes, no or too tough, with the reason
- The first question you cannot answer, and a plan to widen the circle if it is worth it
Use it when
- You like the look of a business or a deal but could not explain how it makes money without notes.
- A friend, a headline or a salesperson has pushed you toward something outside your field.
- You want to decide what to study next to widen what you can judge.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Describe the business or bet and say what you have done in the field.
- Answer the five questions without looking anything up. Say "blank" when you do not know.
- Read the basket and the first question you could not answer.
- Take a yes to the "Business power tester" or a too-tough to your reading list.
