What it does
An idea written down as a product is easy to love and hard to test. The same idea written as a need a customer has is easier to judge: you can ask whether it is real, whether it will last and whether you can serve it. This skill puts the customer first. It names who has the need in their own words, then asks whether anyone could want the opposite in ten years. It separates what customers ask for from what their workarounds show. It lists the skills the need demands and marks the ones you lack, so the plan grows to fit the need rather than shrinking to fit what you do today. It ends with four checks and a short need statement.
You give it
- Your idea in a sentence, and who you think it is for
- Any customer words you have, such as reviews, emails or call notes (optional)
- What your team can already do well (optional)
You get
- The customer and the need, in their words
- The ten-year test result
- A list of the skills the need demands, marked have, can learn or must hire
- Four marks checked with evidence
- A need statement of about 100 words
Use it when
- You have an idea and can only describe it as a product or a feature.
- You are unsure whether a need is real or just a trend.
- Your plan keeps shrinking to fit what your team already knows how to do.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Describe the idea and who it is for. Paste any real customer words you have.
- List what your team is good at, so the skills gap can be marked.
- Read the need statement. If it does not sound like something a customer would say, fix it and run again.
- Take the statement to "Future press release writer".
