What it does
Sentence starters matched to the thinking a task asks for, at several English levels, so every student can take part. Name the task, such as comparing two poems or explaining a process, and you get frames to hand out. Unlike generic lists, these frames follow the shape of the thinking: compare, explain, evaluate or justify. The skill uses Gibbons' scaffolding approach. If you do not give a level, it writes three tiers, from heavily supported to nearly independent. It also adds linking words and can fit the frames to your topic. You pick writing, speaking or both, and it notes how the register changes between them.
