What it does
Over many years, an owner's return stays close to what the business earns on the money put into it. A weak business bought at a bargain price is still a weak hold. A strong one bought a bit dear is still a strong one. And paying tax every year instead of once at the end can quietly take a large slice. This skill runs those sums with your figures. It writes a low, middle and high case for the business return, shows what a long hold does at each, adds the effect of paying 30% under or over your estimate of worth, and compares tax paid yearly with tax paid once. It then sets a real alternative as the bar and calls it keep, wait or pass. It never says to buy or sell a named security and marks missing figures.
You give it
- Your findings on the business
- The return it earns on the money put in, and for how many years
- Your estimate of its worth and the price you would pay (optional)
- Your tax rate, holding years and next best choice (optional)
- Your question (optional)
You get
- A low, middle and high case for the business return
- The cap sum, the price grid and the tax sum with your figures
- Your real alternative set as the bar
- A keep, wait or pass call and the figures that would change it
