What it does
Adding a product is a bet. Some new products win new customers with ads. Others only sell to people who already bought from you. Mixing the two up is how stores waste ad money on a product that no cold buyer wants. This skill uses a three-check method from one founder, Sean Frank of Ridge. First: is it a CAC product (wins new buyers through ads) or an LTV product (sells to people you already have)? Second: do buyers of the new product go on to buy your old one? Third: can it also sell on Amazon, in wholesale or to a big retailer? It then caps the launch cost, plans a small test, and sets rules for when to drop it. The numbers are from one large brand. The skill scales the cap to your own cash.
You give it
- The new product idea, with price and margin
- What your existing buyers already own or buy
- Whether it can sell on Amazon or in stores
- The factory minimum order, and any buyer who has committed to it
- Your cash cap for the launch
- Your current ad results (optional)
- Your results (optional)
You get
- A label: CAC product or LTV product
- A score out of 100 on the three checks, with the sum shown
- Go or no-go, with the reason
- A capped test plan with kill rules
- The condition a buyer must meet before you place the minimum order
Use it when
- You are choosing your next product and have more ideas than cash.
- A new product is selling to your own list but not to cold traffic, and you wonder why.
- You want a rule for when to drop a flop instead of spending to rescue it.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Describe the product, its price, its margin and its main use.
- Say what your current buyers already own or buy, and where else it could sell.
- Say the most you can afford to lose on the launch.
- Read the label, score and test plan. Run the small test before you order stock.
