What it does
A fact pulled from a named public database, with the source, query and date attached. Anyone can repeat the lookup and get the same answer. Instead of answering from memory, the skill sets a retrieval contract: the entity, identifiers, filters, fields wanted and whether you need one record or the full set. It picks the authoritative database from a catalogue of about 80 science, regulatory and financial sources, reads the notes for that source, and makes limited, rate-aware calls. It pages through all results when completeness matters, checks counts, and logs the exact request. It asks when a missing detail would change the answer.
You give it
- The fact or records you need
- The database, if you have a preferred one
- Identifiers and filters such as species or date range
- Fields to return (optional)
You get
- Retrieved records
- Source, query and date
- Record count check
- A log someone else can rerun
Use it when
- You need a gene, drug, trial or regulatory record, and a guess will not do.
- A report needs a figure with a citation you can show.
- You must pull every record matching a filter, not just the first page.
- A colleague needs to repeat your search next month.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can reach public web data services.
