What it does
Many businesses add a second line to grow and find that their strengths do not travel. A new market asks for new skills, new customers and new habits, and the first business offers little help. The cost shows up late. This skill sorts each idea into one of three types. Reinvention is the same need served in a new way. Coaction is a new need that your existing strength can serve. Diversification is an unrelated move, which it drops unless there is real carry-over. For each remaining idea it asks whether your strength fits the new method or is being forced onto it, names the power you could build in the new market and the stage it is in, and ranks the ideas with the evidence still needed.
You give it
- What you already own, such as skills, customers, know-how and assets (required)
- The new market ideas you are weighing (required, in the same message)
- Your brand file, for what you sell and to whom (optional)
- What the new markets look like today (optional)
- Brand brain (optional)
You get
- Each idea sorted as reinvention, coaction or diversification
- A carry-over statement for every idea you keep
- The power you could build in each market and the stage
- A ranked pick and the evidence you still need
Use it when
- You have a strong first business and want to add another without losing the first.
- You have several new market ideas and cannot say which one your strengths support.
- A new technology threatens your market and you are deciding whether to move into it.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- List your capabilities and customers, then the ideas, one line each.
- Say which customers and skills you could not easily carry over.
- Read the ranking, then the evidence list. Collect the evidence before you spend money.
- Re-run it when an idea changes or a new one comes up.
