What it does
A lesson stated as a rule slides off the listener. A lesson inside a small story with a mistake in it stays. People remember the shopkeeper who made the error long after they forget the principle. This skill starts by stating your lesson in one plain sentence. It then picks a small everyday scene, often with a household animal or a shopkeeper, where someone makes the mistake your lesson warns against. It tells the story in plain, quick lines with one funny or surprising turn. Then it steps out and speaks to the reader as a friend about what it means. It may add a pair of things that look alike but are not, to sharpen the point, then returns to the story and closes on what followed.
