What it does
A villain who is always cruel becomes predictable, and a reader stops being afraid. A villain who swings between kind and dangerous keeps the reader on edge, because no scene is safe, not even the warm ones. This skill builds a mood scale for the person who holds the power. Each mood gets a small sign the trapped person can read, such as a changed walk, a hummed tune that stops or a cup set down too gently. Each gets a thing the person does and what it costs the other. It adds the small trigger that tips one mood into the next. It also gives the person a sincere reason for what they do. A villain who believes they are right is harder to read and harder to escape.
You give it
- A setting plan from "Closed setting planner", or a short description of the place
- Who holds the power, what they want and how they talk
- Any history that explains them (optional)
You get
- Three or four moods in order, from calm to dangerous
- A warning sign for each mood that the trapped person can notice
- What the person does in each mood, and what it costs the other
- The small triggers that flip one mood to the next
- The person's sincere reason, in their own words
Use it when
- Your antagonist is scary in big scenes but dull in quiet ones.
- Your trapped character has nothing to react to between big events.
- You want warm scenes that still carry a threat.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste your setting plan and describe the person who holds the power.
- Say how they speak, what they love and what they cannot stand.
- Use the mood scale to decide the mood each scene starts in. Next, use "Rising cost ladder builder".
