What it does
Old content decays. A post that ranked two years ago has slipped to page two, a rival wrote a better one, and three of your posts now compete for one search. Most teams write new posts instead, because nobody is watching the old ones. This workflow looks after the old ones. It finds the pages losing traffic and the topics where rivals now rank above you. It makes a call for each page: keep, refresh, merge with another or cut, with the reason and the numbers. For the refreshers, it plans what to update: facts, structure, the questions the page now misses. It writes new titles and search snippets for the refreshed pages. Then it sets up tracking so you can see, page by page, whether the refresh brought the traffic back.
You give it
- Your site address
- Traffic by page for the last twelve months or more
- Your competitors, if you know them (optional)
- What you can commit to: how many refreshes a month
- Competitors (optional)
- Spreadsheet (optional)
- A buyer brief (optional)
You get
- The pages losing traffic and the topics rivals have taken
- A keep, refresh, merge or cut call for each page, with reasons
- A refresh plan for each page you keep, and new titles and snippets
- Tracking set up to show whether each refresh worked
Use it when
- Your blog traffic is slowly falling and you do not know which pages are to blame.
- You have a hundred posts and suspect twenty do the work.
- You refreshed posts last year and never checked whether it helped.
Steps
- Content opportunity and update review: Connect Ahrefs. Find missing topics and outdated or declining pages, with recommendations to update or replace them.
- Page keep-or-cut auditor: Give it your site's content list. Get each page marked keep, update, merge, redirect or delete, with reasons.
- Old content refresher: Give it your existing posts. Get which to update, merge or delete, and how deep each update goes.
- Search title and snippet writer: Paste your page topic, search phrase and benefit. Get three titles and descriptions within the length limits.
- SEO change tracker: Save your site's SEO state today. Get a warning when rankings, tags or pages slip later.

- Give the folder to Claude (in Claude Code, or as files in a Claude Project) and say "Follow HANDOFF.md".
- Paste your site and your traffic by page. It finds the decaying pages and makes the calls.
- Read the calls. Change any you disagree with. Refresh the keepers as planned.
- Check the tracking after six to eight weeks.
