What it does
When search clicks fall, the guesses start: an update, a competitor, a broken page. Without a method, stores often fix the wrong thing first, or rewrite content when the real fault was that Google could not index the pages. They also stop looking before they know whether the fix worked. The first step ranks the pages that lost clicks, finds what they share and reads click rate against position to tell lost rankings from lost clicks. It also checks the store itself, such as sales, stock and ads, before blaming search. The second step ranks the faults by revenue at risk and keeps crawl and index problems ahead of content. The third gives the exact theme, setting or redirect change for the duplicate and thin pages. Then it pauses: you make the fixes live, wait four weeks and export a fresh report for the same pages. The fourth compares non-branded…
You give it
- A Search Console export covering the drop and the period before it
- Crawl or indexing reports, or page screenshots (optional)
- Your Shopify theme files, for the duplicate page fixes
- Your brand file or a list of your brand search terms (optional)
- After the pause, a fresh export for the same pages four weeks later
- Brand brain (optional)
- Store capture (optional)
You get
- The pages that lost the most clicks, what they share, a likely cause for each group and a score out of 100 for how clear the cause is
- A ranked list of fixes by revenue at risk, with a list of things to ignore and a score out of 100 for the four technical basics
- The exact theme edits, redirects and settings for duplicate pages, a re-test checklist and a score for the leaks closed
- A recovery report on non-branded clicks, branded trend and organic funnel against the period before, a score out of 100 and the one thing to look at next
Use it when
- Organic clicks fell and you need to find the cause, fix it in the right order and prove the traffic is returning.
- A Shopify store has duplicate or thin pages that may be wasting search crawling.
- You want a plain report that shows whether search brings new customers, with brand searches removed.
Steps
- Search Console traffic drop diagnoser: Paste a Search Console export. Get pages that lost clicks, the cause and a score out of 100.
- Store SEO fix prioritiser: Paste a crawl report. Get the fixes that matter, an ignore list and a score out of 100.
- Shopify duplicate page fixer: Give it your Shopify theme and crawl. Get each duplicate-page fix and a score out of 100.
- Organic search report builder: Paste Search Console and GA4 numbers. Get non-branded clicks against last period and a score out of 100.
How to use it
- Download the handoff pack. It's a zip with HANDOFF.md and every skill file this workflow uses.
- Give the folder to Claude (in Claude Code, or as files in a Claude Project) and say "Follow HANDOFF.md".
- Export Search Console for the drop and the equal period before it. Give it the theme files if you use Shopify.
- Duplicate your theme and test each change there before it goes live. Do not noindex pages that bring organic sales.
- Wait four weeks after the fixes, export again for the same pages, and run the last step.
