What it does
Emails go unanswered because the reader cannot find what you want from them. The ask is in paragraph three, there are two of them, and neither has a date. The reader means to come back to it and never does. This prompt reads your draft and quotes every sentence that asks for something. It keeps one, parks the rest for a separate email, and rewrites so line one is the ask, line two is the date and line three is the reason. It makes the ask answerable with a yes, a date, a name or a file, cuts the openers and hedges, and writes a subject line that is the ask itself. If there is no deadline in your draft, it marks MISSING rather than picking one for you.
You give it
- The draft email
- The one thing you need, if you know it (advised)
- Who the reader is (optional)
You get
- Every ask in your draft, counted and quoted
- The rewritten email with the ask, date and reason in the first three lines
- The parked asks and where they go
- The word count before and after
Use it when
- You need a decision from someone senior and have one shot at their inbox.
- Your emails get replies that answer a different question than the one you asked.
- You wrote four paragraphs and are not sure what you are asking for.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt, then paste it into Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini with your draft under it.
- Read THE ONE. If it picked the wrong ask, say which one matters and run it again.
- Fill any MISSING date with a real date.
- Send it. Put the parked asks in your task list.
