What it does
The person who does a thing best is often the worst at teaching it, because half the steps have become invisible to them. "You just know when it is ready" is true for them and useless to a beginner. The beginner needs that feeling turned back into something they can look at or measure. This prompt reads your description and hunts for those hidden steps, turning each one into an action a beginner can do on purpose. It orders four to eight steps for learning, not for doing, and gives each one the common mistake, a quick check the learner can run alone and the sign they are ready to move on. It marks the step where most people stall and what to do about it, and plans a first hour that ends with a small complete result.
You give it
- The skill, described in as much detail as you can
- The learner: who, what they know, how much time
- What beginners got wrong before (advised)
- A good and a poor example (optional)
You get
- The result stated and the hidden steps found
- Four to eight steps with mistake, check and ready sign
- The hard step and what to do when learners stall
- A first-hour plan
Use it when
- You are training your replacement in something you have done for years.
- New hires keep failing at a task that feels obvious to you.
- You are turning your know-how into a course or a how-to.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt, then paste it into Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini with your description under it.
- Describe the skill as if talking to a friend, including the parts you 'just know'.
- Read HIDDEN STEPS FOUND. Correct any that are wrong and run again.
- Teach the FIRST HOUR, then adjust the steps from what you saw.
