What it does
Reading to finish a count leaves you with a list of titles and little you can use. Highlighting everything has the same effect: the page looks studied and nothing comes back to you later. This skill ties the reading to a question or a job, and to a number of minutes you can keep each day. It picks one book to read at its own pace and sets four kinds of margin marks: comments, questions, disagreements and things to look up. It moves the passages worth keeping into one notes file with page and source, checks the claims that matter against another source, and ends each book with one thing you will do differently, done this week. It sets a date to revisit the notes.
You give it
- What you want to learn or the job the reading serves
- How many minutes a day you can give it
- The book you will start with (optional)
- How you take notes now (optional)
You get
- A daily reading routine with a real time
- A margin-mark key for your book
- A notes file layout, with page and source for every entry
- A claim-check habit, one action per book and a revisit date
Use it when
- You buy books and finish few, or finish them and remember little.
- You are learning a new field and want your reading to feed your work.
- You keep notes in many places and cannot find anything.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Say what you want to learn and how many minutes a day you can keep.
- Name the book, or ask for a short list of three to start from.
- Set up the notes file as the routine says before you open the book.
- At the end of the book do the one action, then revisit on the date.
