What it does
Buyers keep a short ladder of brands in their heads for each kind of product, often fewer than seven. Where your store sits on that ladder decides who gets considered. Most stores guess their place, and push the claims the owner prefers rather than the ones buyers already believe. This skill builds the survey that finds out. First buyers name every brand they can think of, in order, before any brand is shown. Then they rate you and each rival from 1 to 10 on six attributes: four usual reasons to buy and one or two from your own story. The scoring sheet ranks you on each, rather than averaging, so you can see where you lead even if you trail on the usual ones. It also plans a theme test and a repeat survey. Small samples give wide errors, so only large gaps count.
You give it
- Your category and the three to seven rivals buyers would think of
- A way to reach 50 to 200 buyers, such as an email list or a post-purchase survey
- Six attributes buyers care about (optional, it can propose them)
- Two candidate themes to compare (optional)
- Brand brain (optional)
- Your question (optional)
You get
- A survey script with a recall question first, then ratings from 1 to 10 on six attributes
- A scoring sheet that ranks you on each attribute, not only averages
- A read-out of where you rank, where you lead and what you can claim
- A theme test plan and a repeat plan for the same survey a year later
Use it when
- You want to know where your store ranks against rivals before you choose a brand claim.
- You are choosing between two ways to position the store and want evidence, not opinion.
- You rebranded or changed your message and want to know if buyers noticed.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Give it your category, your rivals and how you will reach buyers. If you have no attributes, ask it to propose six.
- Edit the survey so it sounds like you, and check the first question comes before any brand name.
- Send it to 50 to 200 buyers, then paste the answers back for the scoring sheet and read-out.
- Put the repeat date in your calendar so you can run the same survey again and see if your rank moved.
