What it does
Most store owners judge ads by the ROAS the ad platform shows. That number tells you nothing until you know the ROAS at which an order stops making money. Break-even ROAS is the sales per ad dollar where you earn nothing. Break-even CPA is the most you can pay for one customer on the first order without losing money. This skill works both out from your own order value and margin, so it works for Meta, Google or any other channel. It then asks the harder questions. Can you carry a higher CPA because customers buy again, and does your cash allow it? Can the cost of a click and your conversion rate fit inside your break-even CPA at all? Collections with different margins get their own targets. If the numbers don't work, it says what to fix before you spend.
You give it
- Average order value (AOV)
- Gross margin after product cost, shipping and payment fees
- Repeat purchase rate and profit per repeat order over 6 to 12 months (optional)
- The ad channel, plus its cost per click and conversion rate (optional)
- Current ad spend, store revenue and new-customer share of orders (optional)
- Your results (optional)
You get
- Break-even ROAS and break-even CPA, with the sum shown
- A first-order target and, if your data supports it, a lifetime value target
- Which campaigns need their own target
- A go or fix verdict and a score out of 100, with how it was worked out
Use it when
- You are about to set a target ROAS or a bid cap and want a number you can defend.
- Your ad platform shows a good ROAS but the bank balance disagrees.
- You want to know if a higher CPA is safe because customers come back.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste your AOV and your margin after product cost, shipping and payment fees. Use real costs, not a guess.
- Say which channel you plan to run, and add its cost per click and conversion rate if you know them.
- If customers buy again, add repeat data from at least 3 months of orders.
- Read the verdict first. If it says fix, change the business number it names before you spend more on ads.
