What it does
Most money mistakes start with picking a path that does not fit the person. A busy person tries to trade. A person who panics in a fall puts most of their money in shares. A person with no time for research buys what a friend recommends. This skill uses one idea: the return you can fairly aim for depends on the intelligent effort you will actually bring, not on the risk you are willing to run. It tests your hours, skill, interest and nerve, sorts you into the defensive or enterprising path, and says what that path asks of you. It also flags the courses that are neither, such as trading on tips or borrowing to buy. It never tells you what to buy.
You give it
- Hours a month you can give to investing, and how you spend them
- Your skill at reading a balance sheet, and whether you want to learn
- What you did or felt in the last big fall in prices
- Any money you want to speculate with, kept apart
You get
- A type of defensive, enterprising or neither yet
- The reasons, ranked, from your own answers
- What each path asks of you
- The paths to skip, and a plain note on fair expectations
Use it when
- You are about to start investing and do not know which approach fits.
- You keep switching between plain and active investing and want to settle it.
- Someone has offered you a hot idea and you want to know if it fits who you are.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Answer the questions with what you actually did, not what you wish you did.
- Read the verdict first, then the paths to skip.
- Take the type to "Stock and bond split planner".
