What it does
Writing for two audiences usually produces one of two things: a simple draft with nothing for the expert, or a clever draft the beginner abandons. The way through is layers. The top layer has to work alone. The deeper layer has to be optional. This skill writes the surface first, so that the main idea survives a single pass and can be repeated by someone who has never met the subject. Then it adds a few deeper touches, such as a precise detail, a quiet callback or a twist on a convention. Each one must pass a removal test (the draft still works without it) and a block test (a newcomer reading past it loses nothing). If the piece needs strong feeling, anger or grief, it writes the feeling fully but keeps the shape pleasant to take in. Every line is tagged, so you can see the layers.
You give it
- A brief from the Two-audience brief writer, or the same facts in your own words
- The facts, claims, examples and material you want to use
- A fit plan for the person who delivers it (optional)
- Length and format
- Plan (optional)
You get
- A full draft with a plain surface
- A depth map listing each deeper touch and what an expert would notice
- A feeling check if the piece carries strong emotion
- A list of what is missing
Use it when
- You have a brief for a mixed audience and need the first draft.
- Your last draft was either too basic for the experts or too heavy for everyone else.
- You want to add substance to a simple piece without making it harder to follow.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste the brief and your material. If a fit plan exists, paste that too.
- Read the draft first without the tags, as a newcomer would. Then read the depth map.
- Hand the draft to the Overstuffed draft cutter before you show anyone.
