What it does
Most store owners know one number: the price the factory quotes per unit. The factory knows ten. It knows what the fabric, the zipper, the box, the labor and its own margin each cost. Without those numbers you cannot tell where a discount could come from, and the factory never has to say. A bill of materials (a cost sheet with one row per part) shows the product the way the factory sees it. Each row carries a cost, the sub-supplier who makes the part, the country, the lead time and the payment terms. Labor, overhead, freight, insurance and the factory's financing cost get their own rows. Then every row gets one question: at what volume does this get cheaper? The skill also checks each cost cut against the risk of more returns, because a thinner part saves money now and costs you refunds later.
You give it
- Your product name, plus a photo or spec sheet
- The current price per unit from the factory, and the units you buy a year
- Any part prices you can look up yourself, such as metals, fabric, chips or packaging (optional)
- Quotes from a second supplier (optional)
- Product photos (optional)
You get
- A cost sheet with one row per part, and labor, overhead and factory margin as their own rows
- Separate rows for freight in, insurance, compliance and the factory's financing cost
- A list of parts to price again each month, and how to check them
- The questions to ask the factory about price breaks
Use it when
- The factory quotes one price per unit and you want to know what is inside it.
- You buy about $1 million a year of product, or you are heading there, and want to find volume savings.
- You are comparing two factories and need the same cost breakdown from both.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Attach a photo or spec sheet of your product and paste the factory's quote and your yearly units.
- Add any part prices you found. Say which parts you could not price.
- Read the sheet. Ask the factory to fill the rows you left blank.
- Take the price-break questions to your next call, and check every cost cut against returns before you accept it.
