What it does
Asking a factory for "a better price" gets a small answer. Asking about cotton, labor and zippers one at a time, with a volume plan behind each, gets a real one. Factories get credits from their own suppliers when you buy more, and those pass to you only if you ask for them by line. This skill uses your cost sheet to plan the first call. It opens with a partnership, not a cut: your growth in units, and what you will do with the savings. It lists asks by line, what you can offer back, and the factory's usual margin so you aim inside it. It tells you what to do if the factory will not move, and warns against squeezing too hard, since a pressured factory makes up the difference with cheaper materials or skipped checks.
You give it
- Your bill of materials and landed cost
- This year's units and your plan for the next 12 months
- Quotes from other factories, if you have them (optional)
- Your profit and loss in rough shares (optional)
- Document (optional)
You get
- A script for the first call: your plan in units and what you will do with the savings
- Asks by line: price break volume, labor and overhead, payment terms
- What you can offer back: forecast, on-time payment, a longer commitment
- A fallback: a second factory and how to open that talk, plus a margin range to aim inside
Use it when
- You have a bill of materials and want lower unit costs at your next order.
- Your volume is growing and you want the factory to share the gain.
- A factory raised prices, or tariffs changed, and you need to see who can carry what.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste your cost sheet and volume plan. Add any other quotes.
- Say how much you buy a year. If it is a small number, the skill leans on the second supplier and your tech pack instead.
- Read the script and the ask list. Change anything you cannot offer.
- Hold the call, then paste the answers back for a revised plan.
