What it does
If you buy from a factory, you probably pay a single number per unit and have no idea what is in it. So you can't tell which line to push on, and you pay a deposit, wait weeks for production and shipping, and fund the stock before a single unit sells. That is how a growing store runs out of cash. The steps tackle both. First it builds a cost sheet with one row per part, labour, overhead and factory margin, and rates each cost cut by the risk of more returns. Next it works out how many days of float your terms give you and builds a ladder of terms to ask for. Then it writes the factory talk. You run the talks and write down what is agreed. The last step tests that against your growth plan and cash, and scores it out of 100.
You give it
- Your product, with a photo or spec sheet
- The factory's quote, the volume it is for and the units you buy a year
- Your current payment terms, production and shipping days
- Part prices you can look up, and quotes from other factories (optional)
- Stock by product, debt, cash and your 12-month growth and ad plan
- Your profit and loss in rough shares (optional)
- Product photos (optional)
- Your question (optional)
You get
- A cost sheet with one row per part, labour, overhead and factory margin, each cost cut rated by return risk
- Your float in days, a ladder of terms to ask for, and cash by month with and without them
- An opening call script, line-by-line asks for price breaks, what you give back and a fallback with a second factory
- A grade for each product from A to D, a test of your growth plan against cash, and a score out of 100 for growth cash safety
Use it when
- You buy stock from a factory and your cost per unit is too high.
- Stock uses up your cash before it sells, and growth means ordering more.
- You have a bigger order coming and want price breaks or better payment terms before you commit.
Steps
- Product bill of materials builder: Give it your product and quote. Get a cost sheet by part, with each maker and price-break questions.
- Supplier payment terms planner: Give it your order cycle and cash. Get your float, terms to ask for and a cost split.
- Factory price-break negotiator: Give it your bill of materials and volume plan. Get asks, give-backs and a fallback.
- Growth cash limit checker: Give it stock, terms and growth plan. Get whether cash or ads limit growth, scored out of 100.
How to use it
- Download the handoff pack. It's a zip with HANDOFF.md and every skill file this workflow uses.
- Give the folder to Claude (in Claude Code, or as files in a Claude Project) and say "Follow HANDOFF.md".
- Attach a photo or spec sheet of the product, along with the quote and your yearly volume.
- When it pauses, run the talks with the factory and write down the new prices, price breaks and payment terms they agree to.
- Bring those figures back for the final cash check. Ask whoever handles your finances for stock and debt numbers if you do not have them.
