What it does
Most teams skip user tests because they sound big and costly. A test with three people and a morning is small enough to do, and it shows the worst problems quickly. The usual failures are testing too many things, helping people when they stall and writing down every small problem instead of the worst ones. This skill picks the few tasks that matter most, recruits three people loosely plus one outside your target group, and writes a short script that tells them you are testing the site, not them. It sets rules for the watchers (say nothing, note every pause) and ends with a fix list limited to the worst problems seen.
You give it
- What you want people to be able to do
- A review of the page, from a reviewer skill (attach it)
- Who your visitors are, or a visitor profile (optional)
- A link to the page or app (optional)
- Brand brain (optional)
- Your website (optional)
You get
- The three to five tasks to test, in order
- Who to recruit and how, including one outsider
- A read-aloud script and a note sheet
- A fix list template, limited to the worst problems
Use it when
- You have a page or app people struggle with and you want evidence, not opinions.
- A review found problems, and you need to know which ones real people hit.
- You want a repeatable monthly test that takes one morning.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Say what people should be able to do in one sentence.
- Attach the review if you have one.
- Recruit three people, plus one outside your target group, using the plan.
- Run the test in one morning with the team watching from another room or screen.
- Fill in the fix list, fix the worst three and book the next round.
Workflows that use it
- Find where new users leave and prove the fix works
- Make a long form easier to finish
- Review a page's ease of use, then plan a test
- Turn a design review into fixes
