What it does
A mathematical model of how your system reacts, fitted from measured input and output data, with proof of how well it fits. You can then simulate it, predict from it or tune a controller against it. The skill prepares the data first, then checks the signal is rich enough to learn from. It tries model types such as transfer function, state space, ARX and process models, and picks an order by comparing fits. It estimates the parameters, then validates the result on data it has not seen, using fit percentages and residual checks. Candidate models are compared side by side so you see which one earns its complexity. It runs in MATLAB with the System Identification Toolbox.
