What it does
Most small sellers pitch the biggest list or the cheapest audience, and a good offer fails there. The people on it never bought anything like it. A deal can also read as too good, so people doubt it and walk away. This workflow ranks groups by proof of buying: who has bought something like your offer, how recently and how much they spent. It writes a deal with a reason why it exists that a stranger will believe, and one you can prove and will honour. Last, it does the sums before any money moves, sets a break-even line and plans a small test. The method comes from Gary Halbert's "The Boron Letters", especially his letter on lists, offers and testing.
You give it
- What you sell and the groups you could reach
- Size and cost for each group, if you know them
- Results showing who bought what, and when (optional)
- A buyer persona or your brand file (optional)
- The deal you want to run, with real numbers
- Your product facts and what each order costs to make and deliver
- How much you can afford to lose on a test
- Your results (optional)
You get
- Every group ranked on a ladder, with the buying proof for each
- The first test group, two backups and the checks to run before reaching down to a colder group
- The deal in one plain sentence, the doubts a stranger would have and three versions with exact claim steps
- The sums, each figure sourced or labelled as an assumption, and the break-even response
- A test size, one thing to change, and rules for a second test, a rollout or a stop
Use it when
- You have an offer and several groups to sell it to, and you need to pick the first.
- Your offers get views but no sales, and you suspect the audience or the reason to buy.
- You are about to spend on a bigger push and want to test small first.
Steps
- Market demand reviewer: Paste the groups you could sell to. Get them ranked from coldest to hungriest, with the group to test first.
- Promotion explanation writer: Paste your product and the deal you want to run. Get the deal with a believable reason why, in three versions.
- Small test and rollout planner: Paste your offer, price and costs. Get a small test, the numbers to hit and the rollout rule.
How to use it
- Download the handoff pack. It's a zip with HANDOFF.md and every skill file this workflow uses.
- Give the folder to Claude (in Claude Code, or as files in a Claude Project) and say "Follow HANDOFF.md".
- List your groups and the deal you want to run. It works step by step and saves each result.
- Run the small test and compare it with the break-even line, not with your hopes.
