What it does
A subscription discount is a bet. You give up margin on the first order and wait months to earn it back. If the discount is too big, or people cancel too early, the cash runs out before the payback arrives. If the page hides the offer, few people take it. The steps size the bet before you place it. It checks your cash first and designs the discount, cadence and first-order deal. Then it works out the payback time and the most you can pay to win one subscriber. It builds the cancel and pause steps for the same offer. At the pause you put it live for a few weeks. Then it checks your page against seven rules to see why too few first orders pick the subscription. It needs real cohort numbers to score the plan.
You give it
- Price, product cost, landed cost and shipping by pack size
- How long one unit lasts
- Cash available and the months you can wait for payback
- Value of subscribers and one-time buyers at month 3 and month 6
- Cancel reasons or reviews
- After a few weeks live, screenshots of your product page on phone and desktop
You get
- A subscription offer with first-order and repeat discounts, gifts and a prepaid plan, and the most you can pay per subscriber
- The payback time, the loss on order one and the cash needed, a safety score out of 100, and a go, slow down or bundles call
- A cancel flow with a save for each reason and a pause, built inside your margin
- A page check scored out of 100, with the conflicts found and tests for the top two fixes
Use it when
- You sell something people reorder and want subscriptions without running short of cash.
- Your subscribe discount was a guess and you do not know what it costs you per sign-up.
- You launched a subscription and few first orders choose it.
Steps
- Subscription offer designer: Give it price, margin and cash. Get a subscription offer and your max CAC.
- Subscription payback checker: Give it LTV, margin, CAC and cash. Get max CAC, a score out of 100 and a call.
- Subscription cancel flow builder: Give it your cancel reasons and portal options. Get a cancel flow with one save per reason and a failed-payment plan.
- Subscription signup page review: Give it your product page and pop-up. Get a score out of 100 for selling subscription.
How to use it
- Download the handoff pack. It's a zip with HANDOFF.md and every skill file this workflow uses.
- Give the folder to Claude (in Claude Code, or as files in a Claude Project) and say "Follow HANDOFF.md".
- Give it your real cohort values for month 3 and month 6. Without them it will not score the payback.
- At the pause, put the offer live and let it run until you have a few weeks of sign-up data. Take phone screenshots of the product page.
- Try the page on your own phone and tell it what you see, because a screenshot cannot show every pop-up.
