What it does
Dialogue is where a reader decides whether the people are real. A line nobody would say jars the reader like a wrong note in a song. The usual causes are speeches that exist to tell the reader facts, characters who all sound alike, clichés from old movies, and cleaned-up language that no one in the room would use. This skill tests each line the way your ear would, if you read it aloud. It asks four questions of every line: would a person say it, does this speaker sound different from the others, is it carrying facts for the reader and not for the listener, and does the tag or the swearing fit. The score is the share of lines that pass all four. It fixes the worst lines and leaves your voice and your story alone.
You give it
- A scene with dialogue
- A line or two on each speaker: job, age, how they talk (optional)
- The setting and the time (optional)
- How rough the language should be (optional)
You get
- A table of every line with four marks
- The lines nobody would say, rewritten
- A check that each speaker sounds different
- A score out of 100 with the sum
Use it when
- A reader said your characters all sound the same.
- A scene feels stiff and you cannot say why.
- You are not sure how far to go with rough language.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste the scene. Keep the tags in.
- Add a few words about each speaker so it can test their voice.
- Read each fix aloud. Keep the ones that sound right to you.
- Run it again after the fix.
