What it does
Most arguments are lost by the first reply. When someone says you are wrong, the natural move is to defend and prove. They then defend and prove back, and the winner loses the person. This skill writes your replies ahead of time, so you do not have to find them while your heart is racing. For each likely moment it gives a first line that welcomes the disagreement, a line that shows you heard them, a line that agrees with what is true, and, where you erred, a quick admission with no excuse. It rewrites any phrase that tells them they are wrong. It adds a line for taking time to think and sets a rule for when to pause. Every line has to be true, so it never fakes an agreement.
You give it
- The plan or notes for the talk
- The points they are likely to dispute (optional)
- Anything you got wrong that they may raise
- Whether it is spoken or written
- Objection map (optional)
You get
- A line for each moment the talk could turn
- A rewrite of any phrase that says they are wrong
- A true admission, if you erred, in one sentence
