What it does
A pre-money value range for a young company, with the working shown. Give it the stage, traction, team and market, and you get a range built from several methods, not a single guess. It first asks a few questions: pre-seed, seed or Series A, whether there is a working product, growth rate, founder track record and market size. Then it scores the company with the Berkus method, which gives up to $500k per risk area, and with a scorecard. It adds the VC method, which works backwards from a target exit value and the return investors need. It checks similar deals and combines everything into one range with reasons. Treat it as a starting point, not a verdict.
You give it
- Stage and funding round
- Traction and growth rate
- Team background
- Market size and similar deals (optional)
You get
- A Berkus method breakdown
- A VC method calculation
- A comparison with similar deals
- A final valuation range with reasons
Use it when
- You are raising a seed round and need a sensible ask.
- You are an angel deciding what to offer.
- You want to compare three valuation methods side by side.
- You need a range you can explain to a co-founder.
