What it does
Google bid strategies fall into two groups. Maximize Conversions and Maximize Conversion Value are expansive: by one speaker's model about 30 percent of spend explores new audiences, which unlocks scale. Target CPA and Target ROAS are restrictive: close to no testing, so more efficient but able to shrink. Pick the wrong one at the wrong time and spend either runs wild or dries up. This skill reads your numbers and picks the strategy by conversion count, with the stage rules from several operators who disagree on timing. It checks for a ROAS spiral, where a target set above what you actually get starves the campaign, and for the ROAS trap, where a high target turns a prospecting campaign into a retargeting one. It gives each campaign a verdict, a target with the guardrail applied and a schedule of budget and target changes.
You give it
- Each campaign's type, bid strategy, spend, conversions and conversion value for the last 30 days
- Target and actual ROAS by week for 12 weeks
- Your break-even ROAS and recent changes to targets or budgets
- Your product price spread (optional)
- Brand brain (optional)
You get
- A strategy verdict for each campaign (keep, move to the next strategy, or loosen the target)
- A spiral and trap check with a step to fix
- A target number with the guardrail applied, and a feeder plan if it fits
- A schedule for budget and target changes, and a score out of 100
Use it when
- You are not sure whether to use Maximize Clicks, Maximize Conversion Value or Target ROAS yet.
- A campaign's spend fell after you raised the target, and you are not sure why.
- You have a Shopping or Performance Max campaign and want to know when to add a target.
