What it does
The last read before copy goes out is usually a gut feeling. Someone says "looks good" or "something's off", and nobody can say what. Copy then ships with a claim the product can't back, or gets rewritten for being plain when plain was fine. This skill makes that read a set of checks that follow the reader. First a facts gate: every number, quote and claim is marked held, contradicted or not in your facts. Then the reading grade and the longest sentence. Then twelve checks, grouped as the reader meets the piece: notice, understand, believe, act, and fit. A failure early on means a rewrite, because the reader leaves before the rest matters. A failure later means fixing named lines. Anything your facts contradict blocks the piece.
