What it does
A job post pulls in the people who are already looking. The best candidates are often not, so you have to find them and write to a stranger. Most first messages fail because they could go to anyone. They list the job and say nothing about why this person would care. The steps fix that in order. First it describes who really fits: their motives, their habits and where they spend time. Then it turns that profile into a search plan with places, companies and search words. Then it writes short first messages and follow-ups built on what moves that person. You send them for two weeks and count the replies. The last step turns your counts into an update that says what to change.
You give it
- The job description or a short brief of the role
- What the hiring manager cares about most (optional)
- After two weeks of sending, your counts of messages sent, replies and calls booked
You get
- A profile of the person who fits and what would make them reply
- A week-by-week search plan with places, target companies and search words
- First messages and follow-ups, plus replies for the usual answers
- A short update for the hiring manager that says what to change next
Use it when
- You have a role to fill and almost no applicants.
- You want a specific kind of person and do not know where they spend time.
- Your first messages to candidates get ignored.
Steps
- Ideal candidate profiler: Give it a job description. Get a profile of who fits: their motives, where they spend time, what moves them.
- Candidate sourcing planner: Give it a role and candidate profile. Get the best places to look, target companies and a week-by-week plan.
- Candidate outreach drafter: Describe the role and the person. Get a personal first message, follow-ups and reply templates.
- Hiring progress reporter: Paste your pipeline numbers. Get a clear update or chart page for the hiring manager or your leaders.
How to use it
- Download the handoff pack. It is a zip with HANDOFF.md and every skill file this workflow uses.
- Give the folder to Claude (in Claude Code, or as files in a Claude Project) and say "Follow HANDOFF.md".
- Paste the job description. Add what the hiring manager really wants if you know it.
- Read the profile and fix anything that is wrong before the plan and messages build on it.
- Send the messages yourself for two weeks, then come back with your counts for the last step.
