AI Blocks › Build a product people want
Launch on your date with half the scope, and a plan to build interest first
Give it your launch plan, date and budget. Get half the scope, a screened request list and a teaser plan.
Launch a smaller product on the date you set is a free AI workflow for the job "Build a product people want". It guides your AI through several skills in order, passing each step's output to the next.

What it does
Launches slip because the plan keeps growing. Each extra feature feels small, but every one adds screens, help text, testing and promises to keep. The date moves, the budget stretches and the launch gets less sharp, not more. This workflow holds the date and the budget still and lets only the scope move. It cuts the feature list in half, then in half again, until the core is left, and parks the rest in a later list. It then answers every request with not now, counts only repeats from different people, and lists the hidden cost of each yes. The last step works back from the date to plan hints, an email list, a preview for insiders and the launch message. The approach comes from Getting Real by Jason Fried and 37signals.
You give it
- Your launch plan with the full feature list
- Your launch date and budget, which the workflow treats as fixed
- Feature requests from customers, such as reviews or messages (optional)
- Your brand file, for the teaser and the preview (optional)
- Brand brain (optional)
- Customer words (optional)
You get
- A smaller launch for the same date, with the core first, a ranked list and a later list of what was cut
- A ruling of yes, later or no on each request, with the full cost of every yes and a short reply for the customer
- A teaser, preview and launch plan, with a sign-up page, a handful of insiders, a free sample and the launch message
Use it when
- A launch is running late or has grown too big, and the date matters more than the extras.
- You have a long list of feature requests and no clear way to say no without losing goodwill.
- You have a product close to ready but no plan to build an audience before launch day.
Steps
- Launch scope cutter: Paste your launch plan, date and budget. Get the same date with half the scope, the core first and the rest parked.
- Feature request screener: Paste your feature requests and who asked. Get a yes, later or no on each, with the full cost of every yes.
- Launch teaser to preview planner: Paste what you are launching and when. Get a teaser, preview and launch plan with a sign-up page and free sample.
How to use it
- Download the handoff pack. It's a zip with HANDOFF.md and every skill file this workflow uses.
- Give the folder to Claude (in Claude Code, or as files in a Claude Project) and say "Follow HANDOFF.md".
- Give it your plan, date and budget, and paste any feature requests.
- It works step by step and saves each result. Check the cut list before you read the rest, since the later steps use it.
- Tell your team what is cut before anyone builds, and keep the later list somewhere safe.
