What it does
Battle cards are written in a burst and then rot. The rival changed its pricing, the feature on the card stopped mattering, a new rival took a tenth of the lost deals, and the team keeps quoting last year's page. Meanwhile the real competitor in most lost deals is "we decided to do nothing", and nobody has a card for that. This agent reads the quarter's deals first. It counts who actually appeared on shortlists, including doing nothing, and archives cards for rivals nobody met. It refreshes each active card with facts that carry a source and a date, checks your edge against both won and lost deals, and asks of each claim whether a buyer would pick you for that one thing alone. Then it rewrites the objection answers with proof behind each, marking any answer that still lacks it. It never sends a card or says a word…
You give it
- The quarter's won and lost deals with buyer type, rivals on the shortlist, reason, price and date
- Your product facts, pricing and what you can claim with proof
- Your current battle cards and feature grid (advised)
- Call notes, lost-deal emails or reviews that mention a rival (optional)
- Last quarter's keeper file, once it exists
- Customer words (optional)
- Your question (optional)
- A buyer brief (optional)
You get
- The real shortlist, with each rival's appearances, wins and losses against last quarter
- A refreshed card per active rival, every fact sourced and dated
- A verdict on your edge and which claims buyers chose you for
- The white-space grid, yearly or when a new rival appears
- An objection sheet with proof behind each answer, and the answers still missing proof
- An archive list for rivals nobody met this year
Use it when
- You sell against named rivals and the cards were last updated at a sales kickoff.
- You lost deals last quarter and the reasons are in a spreadsheet nobody read.
- A new rival keeps appearing and the team has nothing to say about them.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the agent. In Claude Code, add it as a skill or save it in .claude/agents, then ask it to run last quarter.
- Export the quarter's closed deals from your CRM with the rivals and reasons. Put the file in one folder with your cards and facts, or attach them in the chat.
- Read the shortlist first. If "did nothing" is at the top, that is the card to read next.
- Review each refreshed card and the objection sheet. Share with the team what you approve.
- Run it again next quarter. It tracks each rival over time.
