What it does
People defend what they have already decided. They collect support and brush off the rest. A simple cure is to refuse to hold a view until you can state the best case against it better than its own supporters can. This skill builds that case. It picks the opponent who knows most and has something to lose, writes their three best arguments, adds the facts that back them, and asks if you can answer. It names which of your assumptions is hit, and sets a test for changing your mind. It also helps you word your case in terms of the other person's interest.
