What it does
Most plans are checked by asking what could go right. A plan is stronger when you ask what would make it fail, because the answers are usually specific and fixable: running out of cash, relying on one customer, launching into a market that does not care. This skill states the goal in one line and asks what would guarantee failure. It lists the standard ways of failing in this kind of work and checks your plan against each. It puts anything that threatens survival at the top, such as debt or a single big dependency. It then states the bet your plan makes and who pushes it, and sets up one or two people to attack the plan on purpose, from the angle of market, timing, team and the road not taken.
You give it
- The plan, in as much detail as you have
- The goal it serves, and the deadline
- What the plan depends on (money, people, one big customer or tool) (optional)
You get
- The goal in one line
- A list of failure modes specific to your plan, survival risks first
- A change to the plan for each failure
- The bet stated, and a set of attacks for the people you pick to argue against it
Use it when
- You have a plan written and want to find holes before you commit money or time.
- A team is excited about a plan and nobody is arguing against it.
- You are choosing between two paths and want to see what the other one would look like.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste the plan and the goal. Add what it depends on.
- Read the survival risks first and fix those before anything else.
- Pick one or two people to argue against the plan, and give them the attack list.
- Update the plan with the changes, then paste it back to re-check.
Workflows that use it
- Put a deal, hire or purchase through four filters
- Give AI tasks and keep what the job quietly does
- Think a hard decision through with models from many fields
- Work out what a new business needs to get huge
- Check a plan for bias, bad incentives and failure
- Set your position and turn it into a checked roadmap
