What it does
Uninstalling an app does not always remove its code. Many apps leave script and style lines in your theme files, and those lines keep loading on every page. PageSpeed still shows a script from an app you dropped months ago, and nobody knows where it comes from. This skill searches your downloaded theme for each removed app's name and short name. It checks the files where leftovers usually sit first: theme.liquid, head.liquid and footer.liquid. Then it checks snippets, sections and the settings data file. It reads theme.liquid for script and pixel tags nobody recognises. For each hit it says whether to delete it, comment it out to test first, or ask someone who set it up. All edits are planned on a duplicate of your theme, never the live one.
You give it
- Your theme folder (download it from Online Store, Themes, then unzip it) or the pasted theme.liquid, head and footer files
- The list of apps, pixels and services you removed or never used
- Your list of live ad and analytics pixels (optional, so they are never touched)
You get
- A list of files and line numbers that mention each removed app
- A safe edit plan: delete or comment out, one change at a time
- Unknown scripts you should ask someone about
- A cleanliness score out of 100, now and after the edits, with the sum shown
Use it when
- You just uninstalled an app, a pixel or a widget.
- PageSpeed still shows a script from an app you no longer use.
- You inherited a store and don't know what is in the theme.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- In Shopify, go to Online Store, Themes, open the three dots on your theme and choose Duplicate. Work only on the copy.
- Download the copy, unzip it and open the folder in your AI (in Claude Code) or paste the key files.
- Give the list of removed apps and pixels you still use.
- Make the edits one at a time on the copy, preview your homepage, a collection page, a product page and checkout, then publish the copy only when all work.
