What it does
One target ROAS for the whole catalogue quietly steers spend to the wrong products. A product with a 70 percent margin and one with a 35 percent margin cannot share one target. The first can pay for more clicks and the second cannot. This skill sorts your products into tiers. If your margins sit within about 10 points of each other, it groups products by ROAS history: winners, weak sellers, products with no data and zombies with no spend. If margins range widely, it groups by margin tier and sets a lower target for high margin and a higher target for low margin, each worked out from break-even. It then sets a target for Performance Max as a catch-all. That last part is one agency's method, so it comes as a 4 to 6 week test judged on total revenue and new-customer ROAS.
You give it
- A product list with gross margin, 90-day spend, ROAS and conversions
- Your break-even ROAS for each tier, or the margin so it can be worked out
- How much time you have each week to manage the account
- Your current Performance Max and Shopping setup (optional)
You get
- A campaign structure, by ROAS tier or by margin tier, with reasons
- A target ROAS for each campaign
- A Performance Max catch-all setting with a 4 to 6 week test plan
- A note on any tier that is too small to run
Use it when
- Your catalogue has margins from 30 to 70 percent and one target ROAS is wasting money.
- You run Standard Shopping or Performance Max and want your best-margin products to get more budget.
- You have a few zombie products with no spend that you want to give a fair test.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Attach your product list with gross margin, 90-day spend, ROAS and conversions.
- Say how many hours a week you can give to the account.
- Build the tiers one at a time and leave each alone for 2 to 4 weeks.
- Judge the Performance Max test on total revenue and new-customer ROAS, not campaign ROAS.
