What it does
The strongest move in positioning is owning one word in the buyer's mind. A good word is simple, wanted, true and has an opposite that someone else could stand on. A word that fails any one of those ends up as decoration. Research often misleads here. If a survey says buyers want "fast" and a rival already owns it, advertising "fast" strengthens the rival. This skill takes your word map and writes candidates of four kinds: a benefit, a service, an audience and a preference. It cuts anything taken or empty and scores the rest on simple, wanted, true and opposed. It prefers a word opposite to the leader's, checks what buyers would assume once they believe it (the halo), and picks one word and two backups. It then lists what you must stop saying, because one word needs the others to go quiet.
You give it
- A map of who owns which word, such as the output of "Owned word mapper"
- Your product facts and proof (optional)
- Your brand facts (optional)
- Brand brain (optional)
You get
- Ten to fifteen candidate words of four kinds
- A four-test score for each that survives
- A halo check for the top words
- One word to own and two backups
- What you must stop saying
Use it when
- Your message lists four strengths and buyers remember none.
- Research says buyers want something and you suspect a rival owns it.
- You must pick between two good words and can't decide.
- You are about to write a homepage, name or slogan.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste the word map and a short description of what you sell, with any proof you have.
- Read the proof lines. If a word has no proof, it fails the true test.
- Say the winning word to five people and ask what they assume about you.
- Take the word into "Candid line writer" and "Give-up list planner".
