What it does
Teams often treat every choice as if it were final. Small, reversible calls then wait for committees, and speed drops. The opposite also happens: a choice that cannot be undone gets a quick yes because the last few went fast. This skill starts with the choice and who it touches. It asks what would be hard or impossible to undo and what reversing would cost. It sorts the choice into one of two kinds: a one-way door that is hard to reverse, or a two-way door you can walk back through. For two-way choices it names an owner, a small trial and a review date. For one-way choices it lists what you still need to know. It ends with the call and any dissent written down so the team can commit.
You give it
- The choice, in a sentence, and who it touches
- What you already know about the cost of changing your mind
- Who disagrees and why (optional)
You get
- The choice sorted as one-way or two-way, with the reason
- The reversal cost, stated and not assumed
- The review that fits, either wide and slow or small and fast
- An owner, a trial and a review date, or a list of missing information
- A written call with any dissent
Use it when
- A team is stuck debating a choice that could be tried and undone.
- You are about to sign or commit to something and want to check it can't be undone.
- You want to decide who should decide, and how many people to ask.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Describe the choice and who it affects. Say what it would take to undo it.
- Read the sort. If you disagree about what can be undone, say why and run it again.
- For a two-way choice, name the owner and run the trial. For a one-way choice, answer the open questions first.
- Share the written call with the team.
Workflows that use it
- Make a fast, committed decision with the right evidence
- Sort decisions by reversibility and fund long shots
- Decision review tracker
