What it does

Writers are told to read a lot, and most say they do not have time. Time is not usually the problem. The week is full of small pockets, in queues, at lunch, on a train, before sleep, that no plan has claimed. The other problem is what to read. Reading only the best books teaches you what to admire. Reading only your favourites teaches you little. This skill does the sums first. It turns your yearly goal into pages a day and minutes a day, then lays them across your pockets of time. It adds audio books for driving or exercise and a book you always carry. Then it picks a mix: books that sweep you away, books that are fine, and books that are bad on purpose, with one thing to notice in each. Finally it names what to cut to make room.

How to use it

  1. Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
  2. List a normal week: commute, waiting, meals, exercise, evenings.
  3. Give a goal. If you have none, it will propose one from your minutes.
  4. Pick your first three books from the mix.
  5. Keep a book in your bag or your phone at all times.
